Opportunities to work in the Office of Study Abroad

The Office of Study Abroad has several opportunities for student assistants to help us out on a part-time basis. Please stay tuned for more information. Here are the opportunities:

Federal Work Study Funded positions – open to freshmen through seniors

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with answering phones, scheduling appointments and answering e-mails
  • Assist with greeting visitors to the office
  • Update the study abroad website
  • Assist students with exploring study abroad programs and explaining the application process
  • Assist and participate in special study abroad events including the Study Abroad Fair and orientations

Qualifications:

  • Interested in international study
  • Previous experience in professional office environment preferred
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Visiting International and Exchange Students with the transition to Hopkins, serving as a peer advisor.
  • Assists with the VISP orientations in the fall and spring.
  • Organizes activities and events for Visiting International and Exchange students throughout the year.
  • Communicates with VISP students regarding course registration, facilitates communication with DUS’s in the students’ chosen discipline, and coordinates student registration with the Office of the Registrar.

Qualifications:

  • Previous study abroad experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm, populate, gather, and draft content for study abroad social media outlets
  • Research new ways to distribute study abroad information to targeted audiences
  • Garner publicity for study abroad events
  • Create promotional materials for study abroad programs

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with social media outlets
  • Creativity
  • Familiarity with JHU student culture
  • Prior coursework or experience in marketing preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Create cohesive design for study abroad logo, flyers, and promotional materials
  • Create flyers and posters to promote study abroad opportunities
  • Oversee visual layout of study abroad website

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Prior coursework or experience in graphic design or web design preferred
